We are currently seeking:

LNG Operator

 BW LNG is looking for a highly motivated and self-driven LNG Operator to join our Commercial Operations and Key Account Management team. Based in Oslo, this position will have overall operational responsibility for designated vessels.  The role requires following up on contractual commitments, monitoring daily operational activities, ensuring vessel compliance to various regulations and performance as per Charter Party contracts. The role involves working closely with Charterers, Key Account management team and technical fleet organization based in Oslo to support our customers, in constant pursuit of operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall operational responsibility for designated LNG vessels
  • Monitor all daily operational activities and coordinate with Charterers, Vessel, and fleet management team
  • Supervise and verify all voyage and cargo information processed between office, vessels, and charterers in accordance with the charter party requirements
  • Carry out ship shore compatibility studies with nominated terminals
  • Liaise with the charterers concerning all pre-and post-fixture support
  • Monitor and record all relevant voyage performance including off-hire, stoppages, and delays
  • Carry out offhire calculations as per contract and negotiate with charterers
  • Liaise with local agents and port authorities to ensure smooth handling of spare parts, services, and surveys
  • Carry out Voyage Fuel Performance calculations as per Charter Party
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives and sharing of best practices
  • Be part of Incident Management team when required
  • Actively participate in the development of the quality management system and engage in the process for the continuous improvement of departmental procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/similar degree in Maritime studies, Nautical Science, or equivalent. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in the LNG/LPG industry in an operational / technical role
  • Seafaring experience as an Officer on LNG/ LPG vessels would be preferable. Experience as Master or Chief Officer would be an advantage
  • Technical and Operational understanding of Gas Tanker Operations
  • Understanding of Shipping and Time Charter Contracts would be an advantage
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Applicants must qualify for permanent residence permit for work purposes in Norway

Location:

  • The position will be based in our office in Oslo, Norway. Some traveling should be expected for this position.
