We are currently seeking:

Project Manager

BW LNG is seeking a Project Manager to join our Newbuilding and Projects team in Oslo. The department consists of 13 highly competent colleagues across key technical, project, and support functions

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that a conversion project - from gas vessels to FSRUs/FSUs - is executed in line with the project mandate, technical specifications, and contractual obligations. You will coordinate and guide the project team, including the engineering manager, discipline specialists, and the site manager/site team, to secure effective progress and delivery.

External stakeholders include the EPC supplier, major equipment suppliers, the shipyard, and the end client. Internal stakeholders include the commercial department (Gas Solutions) and the Fleet Management organisation.

This is a permanent position, and after completion of the 2‑year conversion projects, the Project Manager will transition into another role within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Execution

  • Prepare and follow up on project budgets.
  • Prepare, monitor, and adjust detailed project schedules.
  • Lead the engineering of vessel modifications across all technical disciplines.
  • Manage procurement of technical equipment and services, including follow-up on long‑lead items.
  • Ensure timely approval of drawings from EPC vendor and sub-suppliers.
  • Coordinate class approval processes for all modifications.
  • Negotiate technical specifications and pricing with contractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder management with EPC contractor, suppliers, class, fleet management and clients.

Project Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate the engineering manager and subject-matter experts.
  • Staff and lead the site team, maintaining close dialogue with the site manager and ensuring site performance.
  • Act as main point of contact between EPC supplier, equipment vendors and internal departments.
  • Ensure regular communication and reporting to a demanding external customer with strict requirements.

Execution, Delivery & Close-Out

  • Follow-up during commissioning of systems and equipment at the shipyard.
  • Oversee handover of modified vessels back to Fleet.
  • Ensure completion of vessel documentation and outstanding class comments.
  • Support Fleet in handling guarantee claims related to modifications.
  • Participate in other projects as requested by the Head of Department.
  • Provide technical support to other parts of the organization as needed.
  • Stay updated on relevant rules, regulations, and technical developments and propose improvements to specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a maritime‑related field is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience from the maritime sector.
  • Technical skills related to vessel conversions or newbuilding projects.
  • Experience with LNGCs, FSUs, or FSRUs is preferred.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • You do require a Norwegian work permit, as VISA application and relocation will not be considered for this role.
