We are currently seeking:

Payroll Executive / Cost Controller

The Payroll Executive at BW Group in Oslo will be responsible for precise payroll processing for Norwegian and West-European seafarers in addition to Oslo staff and pensioners. The role encompasses tax compliance, record-keeping, and benefits administration, with close collaboration with HR and Finance departments. Staying up-to date with tax laws, managing payroll software, and offering employee support. Additionally, the role may involve process enhancements and ad hoc tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Calculate and process employee salaries, bonuses and other forms of compensation.
  • Tax management, social security and retirement contributions, and other as required by law or company policies.
  • Handling sick leave payment, reporting and claiming refunds from authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
  • Update records for changes in employment status, such as new hires, terminations, promotions and salary adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate deductions and contributions related to employee benefits.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports to government authorities.
  • Prepare and pay by-monthly employer tax and employee tax contribution.
  • Prepare and distribute statutory reporting to pension funds.
  • Administer pension and insurance schemes incl. memberships, checking and posting of invoices and handling staff queries.
  • Regularly reconcile payroll data.
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting. 
  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact payroll processing. 
  • Oversee and manage payroll software and systems.
  • Address employee questions, advise and concerns related to their pay, taxes, deductions, and benefits including international assignments. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of payroll processing. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with payroll.
  • Knowledge of Norwegian laws and regulations.
  • Experience from shipping companies is an advantage.
  • Good command in English.
